About

I graduated from Ursinus College in 1971 with a BS in Biology, intending to enter the helping professions.  Spirituality and personal growth were always important to me, so I chose Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary to attend.  I graduated in 1975 with an M.Div. in Pastoral Ministries / Pastoral Counseling and in the fall of 1975 decided to head toward a career as a psychotherapist.  Leaving Boston and returning to the Delaware Valley to train clinically with the Pennsylvania Foundation for Pastoral Counseling, Inc., I ultimately qualified for AAMFT Clinical Membership in 1980.  I continued to practice as a Center Director with the Pastoral Counseling Foundation until 1984 when I established a private practice in Norristown, PA.  In 1985 I was qualified as Expert in the Montgomery County, PA courts.  In 2000 I relocated the practice to Trooper into the annex of an historic building which once was the Old Norrington Tavern.  PA  State Licensure as a Marriage & Family Therapist was granted in the winter of 2002, and my time was spent in the practice as well as teaching in Montgomery Hospital’s Family Practice Residency Program, which I did for 7 years.

I ran for public office in 1995 and was elected Township Supervisor, running unendorsed by my party against the incumbent.  I went on to serve another term in 2001 through 2007.  During my time in office Worcester Township saw significant growth in population and our Board of Supervisors was able to make many significant improvements such as establishing a large municipal park, building a new Firehouse for our Volunteer Fire Department, and preserving over 13% of our Township lands in dedicated Open Space.

During the past ten years I’ve developed a subspecialty in Family Business Conflict Management, due to many requests I have received for this type of consultation.  When the health of the family business is at stake, family business principals need to have resources to deal with internal issues they feel unprepared to address.  Issues of advancement fairness, exit planning and succession, and leadership competition vs. collaboration are just a few of the areas we address.

Professional time is now spent in the practice of psychotherapy, consulting in Family Business issues, and public speaking engagements.  My wife Linda is a professional Botanical Artist, has her own business, and is also a published writer.  We enjoy traveling in the USA and overseas and spending time with our two adult daughters.  Favorite activities include fly fishing, hiking, snowmobiling, golf, hunting, biking, gardening, reading, and various church and community involvements.
